Happy Thanksgiving!

by Jerome Carter on November 24, 2014 · 0 comments

To one and all, have a safe and enjoyable holiday! I have not given up on restarting the workflow forum/Q&A.   Unfortunately, every attempt to bring it up on EHR Science caused more problems.  The good news is that I came up with a better idea, which I will share within next few weeks.

Looking to the New Year

by Jerome Carter on December 23, 2013 · 0 comments

This has been a good year.   Other than the startup, everything else has worked out as expected or better.   EHR Science now has the intended complement of topic pages, and in maintaining them, I have forced myself to conduct regular literature searches for each topic.   As a direct consequence, I hope to get the first […]

Evidence on a Sliding Scale

by Jerome Carter on November 27, 2013 · 0 comments

Has anyone else noticed this?  On the Internet, everyone is an expert, and everyone vigorously argues his/her point.  Whenever absolute proof is available to support a point, that proof is offered, upfront, with no hesitation.  However, when the evidence is weaker, a sort of “sliding scale” of why-you-should-believe-me is used to back a position.   No […]

The Age of the MOOC

by Jerome Carter on July 1, 2013 · 0 comments

For the last two years, massive online open courses (MOOCs) have been quietly making headway as educational tools.  However, the joint announcement by Georgia Tech and Udacity stating they would offer a masters degree in computer science for only about $7000 changes everything.   Georgia Tech is not a chump school.  According to US News and […]

Gone Fishing

by Jerome Carter on August 6, 2012 · 0 comments

Well, it’s finally vacation time, and not a moment too soon. I’ve been tinkering with a theory of sorts for informatics, and a vacation will provide the free time needed to work on it (although it’s not really work). For those who are interested, here is a link to a post concerning results management written for American EHR Partners, a site co-sponsored by the American College of Physicians. See you in a couple of weeks.
